This set came in as a donation from the manager of the local municipal dump. Had quick check of the tube with the tube tester before we started to attempt the set’s restoration. Tube results looked okay’ish, given the age of the set. A few obvious bit replaced and a slow power up with the variac transformer, not to shock the poor thing too much. HT and raster came up eventually, but soon vanished. Various dry joints on the chassis PCB and a coil hanging out in the video drive circuit. Feeding it with a signal from a modulator, driven by a Sky box, gave us quite watchable results. Sat back and watched the Professionals. Better than working the rest of the afternoon.
